Studio Life
Welcome to my life in the studio...
This is the place where my creative life comes together — music, ceramics, photography, design and the quiet influence of the garden. Here I write songs, shape clay by hand, photograph the process and grow the plants that inspire the work around me. It's not just about finished pieces — it's about the process, the ideas and the simple pleasure of making something by hand.

My Perfect four legged companion
Phoebe Buffay (My daughter Alice named her) brings unconditional love with all her heart. Phoebe puts up with my mood swings when creating in clay, she brings such joy into the studio and garden.
I would like to quote the following which really does sum up what it means to have a four legged friend in your life.
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawaken”
- Anatole France
(French Poet, journalist and novelist).

My Life in the studio
“My Life in the Studio" is where all the threads of my creativity meet.
It's a place where clay, sound, light and nature come together — where a handmade ceramic form sits beside a guitar, where photography captures quiet moments of creation, and where plants and natural textures influence both design and music.
As a singer-songwriter, ceramicist, designer, photographer and horticulturist, the studio is more than a workspace — it's a living environment where ideas grow, evolve and find their shape. Each piece of music, every handmade pot, every photograph and planted corner shares the same root: a love of making things that feel honest, natural and enduring.

NEW! Online Shop coming soon!
Over the past 6 years, I have loved creating pieces for you. Because of your incredible support, demand has grown so much that I need to change how I work to keep up with the demand (and spend more time making!).
I'm excited to announce the launch of my new online shop!
Opening on Sunday 29th March, you can browse, order, and ship my latest collections 24/7 at www.handmadebythomas.co.uk
Don't worry- I am still here!
I know the personal connection is important to you and me, so l am introducing a "Maker's Open Day" once a week, at my studio every Saturday in the heart of the village of Farndon in Cheshire. You can come to the studio to chat, view items, or pick up orders from 10am-4pm.
In my modest studio gallery, you'll still find all your favourite and affordable small batches of my handmade ceramic vases, plant pots, bowls and dishes — each one individually crafted and completely unique. Whether holding flowers, giving a special gift or simply adding character to a room, these pieces are designed to be used and enjoyed every day.
Thank you for your support and patience during this transistion.

Rooted in nature and made by hand
"My way of making is designed for slow living, objects that invite pause."
I create simple, elegant, organic sculptured hand-formed ceramics designed for the everyday, vessels that invite you to slow down. My pieces are organic in form and earthy in tone.
I work slowly and intentionally, letting each piece develop its own quiet character through soft curves, textured edges, and natural glaze flows. No two are ever quite the same.
Rooted in nature and made by hand, my work celebrates imperfection, utility, and the grounding presence of clay in daily life.

Edgeworthia chrysantha
Edgeworthia chrysantha - Oriental paper bush is one of my favourite plants in my garden. It's a beautiful structural plant. At this time of the year the plant produces Pom Pom flowers from February to March, its scent is sweet, jasmine that fills my small garden and studio. It's a good indicator that light nights and spring are on its way!

Experimenting in Lighting
Experimenting in Lighting has taken me quite some time, to really understand how light in photography works, how it portrays my handmade pieces and how it helps me think conceptually about how I want my pieces to sit calmly in different atmospheres.
